Skills Summary:

Morgan Kari has more than thirty-five years experience as a professional artist, fine art instructor and lecturer. Her education includes the earning of a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with honors from the University of Washington, Seattle, further studies at the Art Center College of Design, and UCLA, Los Angeles. She continues to study with outstanding international artists and teachers.

For fifteen years, Morgan was a fashion illustrator for clients such as department stores, newspapers, ad agencies and designers. Notable on her client list were I. Magnin, Broadway, May Co., and Bullocks department stores, Women’s Wear Daily, California Apparel News, Men's Wear magazine, LA Times and Edith Head.

Morgan received her first of many blue ribbons as a teenager at the Dairy Day Art Show in Montesano, Washington. Through the years various galleries, juried shows, publications, and private collectors have recognized her work.

A respected art instructor, Morgan teaches portrait painting, fashion illustration, animal portraits, beginning drawing, watercolor special effects, old master’s techniques, botanical illustration, still life, landscape, scientific illustration and abstract painting. Acrylic, oil, colored pencil, charcoal and graphite drawing as well as pastel, silverpoint, mixed medium, watercolor, gold leaf, and pen and ink are also part of her curriculum.

Morgan has been the featured speaker for many organizations. Recently she has demonstrated various techniques for the Colored Pencil Society of Southern California, the Paletteers Club of the Palos Verdes Art Center, San Fernando Valley Art Club, Pastel Society of the Gold Coast, Glendale Art Association, Botanical Artists, Valley Watercolor Society, the Pastel Society of Southern California and the Simi Valley Art Association.

Her experience has lead her to teach at Art Center College of Design, Learning Tree University, Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Palos Verdes Art Center, Manhattan Beach Creative Art Center, Otis College of Art and Design and custom instruction at client’s homes. Morgan currently conducts art classes in her new teaching studio overlooking the beautiful English cottage gardens at her Woodland Hills home.

This outstanding art studio has been featured in the Daily News, Journal of Botanical Artists, Valley Scene Magazine, and was in the Valley Artists Studio Tour. Morgan’s watercolor painting was voted the public’s popular choice at the Tour’s reception.

Awards | Prizes:

Her most recent showings include an International juried Botanical Art Exhibit at the New York Horticultural Society, the Simon Wiesenthal Museum in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the Fifoli estate in Woodside, California, a best in show at the San Fernando Valley Art Club Exhibit, special honor award at Valley Watercolor Society annual juried exhibit, and the popular choice award at the Pastel Society show. She also won the judge’s award at Brand 39 National Juried Exhibition, was an award winner at this years’ Palos Verdes Art Center’s winter show, included in Amazing Pencil Portraits by Platte Productions Publishing, and gathered a first place prize at the Colored Pencil Society Southern California exhibit for a recently completed portrait.
A painting was featured in the twenty-first Colored Pencil Society of America International Juried Exhibition.
