Ciara specializes in teaching piano through the use of theory, reading music, understanding techniques, analyzing chord progressions, playing by ear, and improvising. Lessons with Ciara are fun and geared towards the specific style that you want to learn. If you want to play only classical, great. If you want to play jazz or funk, great. Electronic, pop, broadway, classic rock……all of these styles can be used to understand what music is. Ciara is well versed in all of these and lets you determine which if not all, of these styles you want to end up playing. She can also work with you on composing, arranging, and producing. Most importantly, she will help you to remember that the pursuit of music is a lifetime journey and should be approached with enthusiasm, inspiration, and patience. Aside from teaching her own private students, Ciara runs McAllister Music Studio, offering private lessons in piano for kids, bass guitar lessons, voice lessons, & rock band workshops.

Ciara began teaching in San Francisco in 2005 when she moved here from Oklahoma where she was the founder and owner of Midtown Music School, a school that taught private and group lessons in piano, voice, guitar, drums, strings, and rock band. She moved to SF and began teaching at the Community Music Center in the Mission. After a year, she began teaching at her private studio, where she shifted her focus to teaching teens and adults. She is also the Music Director for uCamps, a performing arts summer camp for middle school and high school students. Here she directs 10 – 20 rock bands each summer. She currently teaches approximately 30 adult private students and another 100 or so rock band students each summer.
